We viewed this 2 flat at the end of February! It was a very exciting time. We were only a few weeks away from our "due date" with Kennedy. This bun was way overcooked and I had to waddle around at this point.
The moment we entered the building we fell in love! Although not "beautiful" from the outside, we could see all the potential it had to offer. The 2 units each have 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, both needed work, but nothing we didn't think we couldn't handle. Although it was not mentioned in the listing, it had a FINISHED basement unit as well! BONUS! We were ecstatic! I immediately started imagining our small family growing here! Wow, a backyard, something I haven't had in YEARS!
The next day Omar put in an offer and away we went. What a crazy ride. Yes we got the place, No we didn't. YES, looks like things are going to go through, ulp another hiccup! We FINALLY closed a day after Omar's 32nd birthday, on JUNE 5th! What a wonderful belated birthday present! After all the stress of trying to get the place, we finally had the keys!
We left the lawyers office downtown picked up a pizza and went straight the building! (see said pizza in images below) We dreamed, discussed, imagined-
Little did we know all the work ahead.
It was difficult, Omar did most of the work, or hired friends/refferals to do some of the work. I was at home with Kennedy 24/7. Sometimes it pushed our relationship to the limit but we managed to get through it all!
On August 26th, we spent our first night in our HOME! What a great feeling!
We still have bits and pieces to do. Everything isn't put away, there are still some boxes we haven't gone through, but this entire thing has been a SLOW process. We shouldn't expect to be settled so soon. Especially with our little 5 month old keeping us on our toes!
Feeling VERY blessed at this time in my life! Looking forward to this blog to share personal stories, photographs and tales of our daughter growing up, and work with past/future/present clients!
Thank you for reading!
