Behind the Scenes with Señor Wooly
Word around town is that yesterday was National Mom and Pop Business Owner Day!!! We are so fortunate to live in Chicago’s Northshore which is filled with unique and vibrant shops, restaurants, and services. I couldn’t think of a better time to share a behind the scenes project I worked on with a really beloved local Skokie business- Señor Wooly!
Señor Wooly provides high quality educational material via silly and absurd musics videos and graphic novels to students all over the world! His staff is a small, curated team of super individuals who each bring their own sets of talents.
I was so thrilled when Jim Wooldridge (Señor Wooly himself) asked me to capture some behind the scenes photos of not only one BUT two music videos! Go ahead and take a look!
ENCERRADA EN LA ESCUELA- Señor Wooly
FEO- Señor Wooly
As a photographer running my own small business, I am used to wearing all the hats myself. Every email, every project, every website update has been completed by me. It’s a lot of work but it’s my own little labor of love. YET being behind the scenes of these videos was eye opening to me! I have never seen so many people work together flawlessly to get the job done. Everyone from the very talented cinematographer, to the song writers, to the dozens of “extras” who volunteered to be a part! (A cool fact to know- almost all of the extras in the FEO music video are actual Spanish teachers who use Sr Wooly material!) Everyone had a role and such great optimism about working together- even after 12+ hr days!
I’m so excited to finally get some of these images out into the world that I captured while working on these videos! Behind the scene photography is definitely my jam and I look forward to future similar opportunities.
Before I go here are some of my other favorite small businesses in Skokie!
Check them out and don’t forget to support the small businesses in your own community- simple as following along and interacting with their social media accounts!
